Fall is the season of changing leaves, football, cozy knits and comfort food. As the seasons change though our skin can go haywire and our immune systems are compromised. This super quick and easy smoothie recipe is packed with nutrients and is a great on the go breakfast or snack. Blueberries and strawberries are loaded with antioxidants, fiber and Vitamin C, while mangos can help clear skin and lower cholesterol. Bananas contain fiber, potassium, vitamin C and B6 all of which support heart health. Chia seeds which are naturally gluten free are high in important nutrients for better bone health, like calcium and manganese, and are high in antioxidants. They also are loaded with fiber and protein which can aid healthy weight loss. The granola is also a great source of fiber, minerals and healthy fats. For those of you that can’t eat gluten, you can skip the granola or use a gluten free option. This smoothie takes about 5 minutes to make and is great for an easy breakfast on the go. Put it in a ball jar, throw on the lid and you can take it with you on your commute to work or if you’re running errands during the day and need a quick and healthy snack!

INGREDIENTS

Frozen blueberries, strawberries and mangos

1 ripe banana

Yogurt (I love Siggi’s because it’s not loaded with sugar, but any greek yogurt is great)

Fresh orange juice (for store bought get it with Vitamin D added)

Chia seeds (about a tablespoon or less)

Granola

DIRECTIONS

Combine frozen fruit, banana, yogurt, orange juice, and chia seeds in a blender. Blend until smooth. Pour smoothie in glass and top with granola. Stir granola into smoothie and enjoy!

This sounds delicious—although it makes me feel a little guilty I opted for a donut for breakfast today, haha 😉

Haha, don’t feel bad that sounds much closer the the breakfast I typically eat. Then I drink a smoothie to balance it out.
