Someone sent me a message the other day on Instagram after I posted this photo that read “Fall in New England is the eighth wonder of the world.” I’d have to agree. I know that fall is beautiful in a lot of places but it sure is special in New England. There are so many reasons to love the season: football, sunny and crisp weather, the foliage, gourds, and of course the fashion. This fall capsule wardrobe focuses on pieces that you can wear in a variety of ways, and everything is either ethical and/or sustainable. As most of you know I’m almost 5 months pregnant and my bump is getting bigger by the day, so I chose many of these pieces based on that. I’ve also linked to some specific maternity styles for certain items below. For more capsule wardrobe ideas check out my main capsule here.
(CLOSED) To celebrate the launch of my capsule and as a thank you for your continued support I’m doing a giveaway. Three winners will be randomly selected to receive a $200 gift card to the store of their choice: Everlane, ABLE or Hatch. There’s two ways to enter: comment on this post with your favorite thing from the capsule and you can enter on my Instagram post here. One entry allowed per post. Good luck!
Button Fly Jeans: I got these jeans in the washed black when they first came out and I lived in them (they fit true to size). They are SO comfortable and flattering and look good with everything. I love the raw ankle hem and high rise. High rise jeans are not in the cards for me with a growing baby bump but I wanted a good pair of denim so I got this pair of maternity jeans.
Washable Silk Shirt: I am OBSESSED with this silk shirt I recently styled in this IGTV. It’s crazy soft, beautifully drapey and super versatile. It runs big (I got a 0 and have plenty of room). This will definitely be on heavy rotation in my fall wardrobe with leggings, jeans and oversized sweaters.
Rain Boots: These are an essential for fall in New England. I like the green in particular and they’re really comfortable and cushy for your feet. They’re a great fit to wear with jeans or chunky socks and a dress.
Boxy Coat: The perfect outerwear for layering, I love a boxy coat in a neutral color for fall. This style from the H&M Conscious Collection is made from recycled polyester and wool. This camel wool coat from Amour Vert is also stunning and made with sustainable materials. If you’re looking for a more lightweight material I love this quilted knit jacket from Free People.
Wool Pants: I had to include these wool trousers because they are just so chic. Dress them up with a heel or bootie or keep it casual with converse and a chunky knit. This ankle length pair from Eileen Fisher is gorgeous. Hatch makes some great maternity trousers that are perfect for work as well.
Fuzzy Jacket: This is such a cute and cozy jacket for fall. I ordered it in black before it came out in the taupe so I’m exchanging for that color because it’s gorgeous. I ordered a size up (small) so I’d have some room, it runs big. This style from Everlane is a cozy lightweight layer too.
Leather Ankle Boots: I got these booties in chestnut along with their Rojas Boot in Tobacco Suede. Everlane’s Boss Boot is also really comfortable and look great.
Cashmere Crew: Truthfully my wardrobe in fall and winter is comprised of mostly sweaters, so realistically I’ve got more than a cashmere crewneck. For the capsule though, I decided to go with an option that can work in a bunch of ways. I always like to size up in sweaters for a roomier fit. I have this style in camel in a small and in the v-neck in loden size medium.
Cashmere Wrap: I just discovered this brand Naadam that specifically focuses on sustainable, better quality cashmere. This wrap in mink is absolutely stunning and would be so pretty for fall and winter, and ideal for travel. I also love my White & Warren cashmere travel wrap.
Silk Slip Dress: A truly versatile piece that can be worn so many ways and through multiple seasons. Wear one layered under a cozy sweater like I did here, or style it with a simple tee or turtleneck underneath. I have the Cuyana slip dress in blood orange (styled here) but I love black as a classic staple. I love this style from Eileen Fisher and this dress from Storq is a gorgeous maternity option.
Cashmere Sweater Dress: Is there anything cozier than a dress made of cashmere? I love this style from Everlane because it’s a looser fit (perfect for a growing bump) but can also be belted to give it shape. Their v-neck midi dress is a great option too.
Cotton Henley: The perfect layering piece for fall, a cotton henley looks great on its own or under a cozy knit. This ribbed long sleeve tee is made from organic cotton and comes in great classic colors. Everlane just came out with a henley waffle tee in a few colors as well. I have this maternity style and it’s super soft.
