Linen shorts are such a great casual style for every day. Wear them with white sneakers or birkenstocks and a white tee for an easy and effortless outfit. Keep your white t-shirt tucked in to your linen shorts so it looks polished.
pay attention to proportions
Linen shorts can be baggy and have a lot of volume. Be careful not to dress in pieces that overwhelm your frame. Even though I’ve paired an oversized linen shirt with linen shorts, the length of the shorts works well with the button down because they’re not too long. Keep the hem shorter if you’re wearing a loose top or go with a fitted top if your shorts are on the baggier side.
elevate your outfit with structured pieces
If you want to style linen a bit dressier or more work appropriate pair structured pieces like a blazer with your linen shorts. There are a lot of really great tailored linen shorts that are a much better option for work or a dressier occasion.
stop stressing about wrinkles
The number one question I get about linen is always, “but what can I do about the wrinkles?” Here’s the thing, linen is going to wrinkle. Honestly, I think it’s one of the things that makes the fabric easy and fun to wear. Wrinkles are just a part of wearing linen, embrace it, or pick a different fabric! I use a steamer for my linen pieces but know that it will wrinkle when I wear it.

For a casual outfit that still looks chic and effortless, elastic or drawstring linen shorts are such a great style for summer. I gravitate towards neutrals and these linen shorts from Madewell are a nice elevated style. Drape a cozy sweatshirt or sweater over your shoulders for added style.
