How To Wear A Tunic Sweater

This blog post is in partnership with Sézane.

Is there anything cozier than a tunic sweater for winter? We have some frigid temps in the Northeast right now and big cozy sweaters are an essential. The Josette tunic sweater from Sézane is the prettiest lilac that brings some much needed spring color into my winter wardrobe. It’s a tunic sweater and not a sweater dress, which makes it perfect for pairing with jeans, trousers, leggings and more. A great piece to keep you cozy this season (and very maternity and postpartum friendly), here are some tips for how to wear a tunic sweater.

tunic sweater with fitted trousers

Fitted trousers with a tunic sweater is so chic and equally as comfy. A great look for work, trousers make it office appropriate, especially paired with a loafer or low heel. I styled it with wool lined clogs and Lurex socks for a cozy and fun winter outfit. The Clara Trousers from Sézane are one of my favorites. They have a high waist fit and ankle length hem making them easy to style. I’ve worn them in winter, spring and fall.

a tunic sweater With jeans

You can always wear a tunic sweater with skinny jeans, but I love pairing them with a wide leg jean like the Serge Trousers. Give it a tailored look by cuffing the jeans and pairing them with ankle boots. I wore it over a turtleneck and striped button down shirt for warmth. Add a chic wool coat when you’re heading out.

tunic sweater over a dress

One of my favorite style tips is to layer a tunic sweater over a dress. It’s a great way to bring even your spring/summer dresses into the winter season. This midi dress would be so chic layered under the Josette tunic sweater. Use a belt around the waist and tuck in just the end of the sweater to create shape. See this video I made for a tutorial.

tunic sweater with flowy pants

Keep it flowy and relaxed with a tunic sweater over flowy pants. I’ve worn this tunic sweater with the Matthew Pants and ankle boots. It’s as comfy as it is warm. A great working from home outfit or chic weekend look.

Hi! Just discovered your blog! I wanted to see what you thought about the sizing of the Clara trousers? I’ve been eyeing them so long but haven’t ordered bottoms from Sezane yet so I am not sure how they fit… 🙂 would you say they are true to size or fit small like European clothing do a lot?

      Hi Ladina,
Welcome! I think they fit true to size but every brand is so different! For comparison I usually size down in Madewell but order my regular size in Sezane. I hope that helps.
