Having grown up and spent the majority of my life in Newport, sometimes I can forget how truly magical it is here. I remember coming back for the first time after I moved to LA and being overwhelmed by the beauty of the place I spent my entire childhood. Sometimes it takes leaving a place to be reminded of why you loved it so much in the first place. Needless to say I jumped at the chance to join some (awesome) ladies for a stay at the Chanler at Cliff Walk and some fun activities around town.

After a delicious welcome lunch at the Spiced Pear, the group set out for an afternoon stroll along the Cliff Walk. Billie, Grace, Abigail, Emily and Amanda all came in from New York and they were such a fun group of girls to hang with.
We stopped at the Breakers Mansion for a tour and not having been there for a while I forgot just how grand it is inside. Walls made of marble, platinum fixtures, crystal chandeliers and gold leaf wall paper are only a few of the opulent details that make up the Breakers. My favorite feature, the marble tub with pipes for hot or cold salt water.
This tile floor is part of the terrace that overlooks the lawn on the second level of the mansion.
After returning from our walk I was able to take advantage of my enormous jacuzzi tub in my room at the Chanler (I think I probably took at least 4 baths in 2 days). We finished the day with an incredible 3 course meal at the Spiced Pear. Grace and I shared an heirloom tomato salad with buratta and I had the halibut for the main course. We ordered every dessert off the menu and of course I had to try each one. My favorite was the souffle and the flambe but honestly they were all delicious.
On the second morning I woke up to watch the sunrise and it was absolutely magical. Waking up overlooking the beach was a special treat and mother nature didn’t disappoint. Being able to walk downstairs and overlook the ocean as the sun came up was one of the highlights of the trip.
Craig happened to be in Middletown shooting the sunrise over Third Beach so he met me at the beginning of the Cliff Walk and we shot some photos as the sun came up.
After an amazing breakfast at the Spiced Pear we headed out for a tour of Bellevue Ave and Ocean Drive. Amanda spotted this stunning tree on our way back and we had to stop for pictures. It was fun to hear little details from our Chanler tour guides about different properties and landmarks around town that I’d never heard before.
We stopped for lunch at The Chanler’s sister B&B, the La Farge Perry House. La Farge has all the quaint charm of a New England Inn coupled with historic elegance and character. Making La Farge even more special is the Innkeeper Marise, who will keep you entertained for hours (and well fed).
After lunch at La Farge we made our way to Newport Vineyards for a tour and tasting. We learned about the wine making process and got a behind the scenes look at how the grapes go from on the vine to a glass of wine.
We finished our second night with a group dinner at the Fifth Element which did not disappoint. Highly recommend the pepperoni pizza. For anyone visiting Newport, I can’t say enough about my stay at the Chanler at Cliff Walk. Their generous and helpful staff made the hotel feel like home, and waking up with a view of the beach every morning just made each day that much better.
