Our Kitchen: A Year Later

Honestly it feels really good to look at these three photos and realize what we’ve accomplished in a year. It was at the end of last June that I shared our first kitchen reveal and today I am happy to share an update on what we’ve done since then. The crazy thing is most people don’t realize how much work we’ve done. Most people seeing our house for the first time usually say something like “so what have you done?” Sigh, where do we even begin?! It’s always nice to look back at what we started with once in a while. It has been a lot of hard work over the last year not just in the kitchen but in every room of our house. The projects never stop but it is very rewarding to create spaces we love and enjoy. So let’s talk about the kitchen.

Love the updates! That cabinet color is gorgeous and the pendant lights really pull everything together. So pretty.

Oh that’s a beautiful Kitchen! We did over a country kitchen in a farmhouse in exactly those colors ourselves many years ago and the cabinets and the countertops were the same materials and colors ! Looking at your updated version with such timeless style brings me back so many wonderful memories of my children and dinners with good friends and a simpler good life. Great Job guys!

Serious kitchen inspo! I love that it has more character than the trendy white cabinets and marble/granite countertops — seems more homey.

So cute! Did you put the microwave in the island or no microwave? I think the the hood is much cuter but what about popcorn!?

Microwave is in the pantry. I had an outlet installed in there.

The kitchen was cute before but I’m IN LOVE with it now! The new paint looks so gorgeous and brightens up the whole space. That jade-colored fruit bowl is just the most perfect piece to complement the new colorr! Did you repaint the walls too? It seems to have more of a pinkish tint now.

Nope the walls in the kitchen are stucco. I think the pink is just the warm tones casting light from the countertops.

I love the update! Do you think cabinet painting is something that a novice diy-er can handle? Your insta-stories makes it look easy 😉

Anyone can do it honestly it’s really not hard you just have to take all the steps (sand, tape, etc.)

I absolutely love this kitchen! My fiancé and I bought our first house back in Sept. and I have been telling him how much I want a blue kitchen. Now I can show him what I mean! You did a beautiful job!

It feels so great to look at these awesome pictures. These pictures clearly show that you achieved a lot in the last year. You did an amazing job and these photos are the proof of it.

I can’t get over the color of these cabinets, and I can’t believe how much lighter they look than the swatch on Farrow & Ball’s website. Do they ever look as dark as the swatch? And how much paint did you need for the cabinets? I have no clue how much to order!

    1. Jessica

Farrow & Ball is really helpful in letting you know how much you’ll need, I recommend getting in touch with them if you decide to go with their paint. As for the color, it really depends on the light. If it’s bright, the paint looks lighter and if it’s dark light it looks darker.

    Which faucet did you use?

    1. Jess

      Delta faucet in champagne bronze

    Hello!

I know you hear this all the time, but wow… just wow.. love everything you do but especially love that you are so grateful to share it with us. 🙂

My question is.. What colors did you use on your kitchen ceiling and walls? It’s easy to love a ‘color’ but for me, it’s all about the under tones on the wall.. only because I had to redo twice.. ugh..

    Thank you!!

    Danielle

Do you have the information for the faucet?

This kitchen is beautiful and my inspiration for my new house! What color paint is on your fireplace in the background?

I love your kitchen makeover and the colors. I wondered how well the painted cabinets are holding up to normal wear and tear. Any chips or other defects? I want to paint mine, but am hesitant because I know paint chips on cabinets under heavy use.

Thank you in advance for your response.

This reminds me of when we redid our kitchen a few years ago. It still makes me chuckle thinking about how we tried to do everything ourselves to save some money. It turned out incredible (maybe not as professional as your kitchen) but our kitchen kicked our butt! We did a complete rehaul of everything, and our original plan was to just take everything to the dump ourselves, but we quickly realized how much of a pain that was. We ended up just renting a dumpster that would be hauled off, and that turned out to be one of the many lessons that taught us not everything needs to be done ourselves. Kitchen remodels are big projects, so I’m glad yours turned out the way you wanted!
