That cozy fall feeling should extend to cocktails, don’t ya think? While summer is all about refreshing drinks that will cool you down, a fall gathering isn’t complete without a warm libation. And we’ve got an easy and tasty take on a hot toddy that will dazzle any apple lover. Have some friends over, start a bonfire, grab some blankets and whip up this delicious cocktail.

The great part about this drink is that you can customize to your own tastes. More or less alcohol, more cinnamon, more or less sweet, and you can make them one at a time or in a larger batch. Here’s what you’ll need:

apple juice

whiskey
caramel sauce (the better quality, the tastier the results)
cinnamon
apple slices and cinnamon sticks for garnish

So here’s the thing, I would give you measurements, but the majority of this recipe is about taste and personalization. Here are my recommendations. Fill whatever mugs you’re going to use with apple juice and one (or more if you want) shot of whiskey. Dump the combined whiskey and apple juice mixture from the mugs into a saucepan.

Add a heaping spoonful of caramel to the saucepan to start (you can also leave this part out if you don’t like caramel). Add more as you go if desired. Heat the mixture over medium heat and whisk together all the ingredients including a liberal sprinting of cinnamon, again add more or less to your own taste. The heat helps incorporates both the cinnamon and caramel sauce.

Carefully pour the mixture into your mugs and garnish. Whether you make it in a small or large batch, this apple hot toddy is sure to be a crowd pleaser!
