With summer winding down, fall is fast approaching and we are here for it! The evenings are beginning to get more crisp and cool, ideal sweater weather, the leaves are already starting to turn to vibrant shades of red, orange, yellow and gold– all the fall activities that we know and love are back!
With the busy season of summer in the rear view, fall provides a perfect time to reconnect with friends and gather. We love an opportunity to weave all the fall themes into girl time. If you’ve been craving some time with your girlfriends, here are some fun ideas for gathering this fall.

Picnic in a Beautiful Setting
Create an intimate atmosphere with a picnic at a park, meadow or mountaintop with your girlfriends. Pack your favorite charcuterie and snacks, blankets, and special drinks. Make it an adventure and hike to the top of a mountain or keep things simple and head to your local park. Either way it will provide a beautiful natural setting for quality time with friends!
Go To the Movies
If you haven’t already heard, Taylor Swift’s film, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour drops in theaters October 13th. It is already anticipated to attract record numbers of fans, so grab your tickets early and make a night of it with your best girlfriends. Get your T-Swift gear out, bedazzle from head to toe, grab dinner and drinks before or after and enjoy the show. It’s playing at our local theater in Woodstock and there’s lots of ladies outings being planned to see it in big groups.
Girls Group SUP Outing
Jess and I joined a group of our friends recently for a Stand Up Paddle Board at our local lake. It was such a fun and empowering outing. It was so nice to connect, while being out on the water and doing an activity that requires a little bit of challenge. We stopped throughout our journey around the lake for pow-wows to eat donuts and share our thoughts on everything from 40th birthdays to botox. We all left feeling rejuvenated.
Fall-Themed Potluck
The thought of hosting a party can be overwhelming especially when it comes to all the cooking and cleaning it involves. But potlucks are a great way to delegate and spread out the responsibilities. Host a fall-themed potluck and ask your guests to bring a fall-themed dish to share. Create a sign-up so you don’t get numerous “chips and dip” repeats and encourage fun seasonal foods like apple crisp, pumpkin or squash soup, bacon wrapped brussel sprouts, candied pecans and so much more.
Host a Fall Watch Party
Who doesn’t love a movie night? Make some fun snacks and watch your favorite fall flicks like Hocus Pocus and Beetlejuice or fall episodes of your old favorite shows like Gilmore Girls. If you need some ideas, check out our 22 Top Movies to Watch in the Fall.
Paint or Carve Pumpkins
Get artsy and host a pumpkin painting or carving party. Set up a table outside with festive fall decor and enjoy this fun, artistic event with friends. If child care is tough, this could be a great option to bring kids and let them in on the fun. Play fall-themed music and provide some yummy snacks and drinks to share. Sometimes weaving an activity into a party can help make people feel at ease and relax into the setting.
Go On A Hike
Whether you live in the mountains, near the beach, in the city or the suburbs, there’s just something about going on a hike with your girlfriends that’s so rejuvenating. We’ve done this with our friend group after bedtime. We put on our headlamps and head out on a (familiar) trail for a walk through the woods followed by a cozy gathering.
Fall Bonfire
If hosting a whole dinner for friends feels like too much, keep it simple and invite friends over after dinner time for drinks by the fire. For later in the season, host a Friendsgiving prior to Thanksgiving to celebrate your wonderful friendships. Ask each of your guests to sign up to bring a main dish, side, appetizer or dessert and make sure you have all the Thanksgiving staples. This is such a fun way to show your friends your love and appreciation for them. You could make fun place settings with Thanksgiving napkins and decor. You could also write a special little note of thanks to each friend on their setting. Such a thoughtful way to share your gratitude.
Game Night
Game nights are such a fun way to get together with friends. Keep things simple and play your favorite games. I always love classic card games like Spoons, dice games like Left, Right & Center or Charades or Categories. Choose a game that will keep everyone laughing and having fun!
