A Week of Outfits 5.25.21

I’m sitting here writing this post and laughing because I just looked back at my last “A Week of Outfits” and I was NOT happy about the weather. I’m telling you New England spring is a real emotional rollercoaster. It looks like we are finally through to the other side. I love the four seasons, but it is so much easier to get dressed when it’s warm and you don’t have to think about how many layers you might need. Mornings and nights are still chilly but I can handle that. I’ve been gravitating towards dresses a lot lately. I have some old faves I’ve been dusting off. A lot of repeat wears this past week which quite honestly is how I dress most of the time. I tend to have favorites that I wear A LOT and then I get sick of them and rotate in some newbies (or oldies I haven’t worn in a while).

Tuesday

All I remember about last Tuesday is how happy I was to wear a dress. This one from Sezane has been sitting in my closet for a while because the last time I wore it I was pregnant and very sick. It triggered such bad memories I couldn’t even look at it. Just seeing it gave me a pit in my stomach. I’ve been trying to wear it more and change my memories to good ones, and it’s working. I got these leather sandals from Beek a few years ago. Looks like they don’t make the exact style anymore but I will say the quality and comfort is amazing. They truly mold to your feet.

Wednesday

Another day another dress. The other thing I’ve been gravitating towards is anything I can wear without a bra. I can’t even imagine wearing a bra with underwire again. I got this dress from Reformation a few years ago. I don’t see it on their site but there’s lots of similar styles.

Dress: Reformation (similar), Sneakers: Converse

Thursday

It was a long but very productive work day and I started planning for the Newport Guide I’m hoping to launch in the fall. I’m really excited about it. I also finally found these denim shorts I’ve been looking for that were of course exactly where I store my summer clothes. More about this Sezane top here.

Friday

Friday was a big catch up day of emails and other administrative things. I did some gardening later in the day with Craig while Marin was napping, definitely did not wear this sweater for that.

Sweater: White & Warren, Shorts: AGOLDE Dee

Sunday

Our first social gathering in over a year. It was exciting and exhausting at the same time, but Marin had a blast and that is a win in my book. It was her cousin’s first birthday and it was really hot so I wore this Sezane linen dress again because it’s light and breezy. I wanted to get a picture of the back detail because I love it so much (you might be able to find this style on Poshmark or thredUP).

Dress: Sezane (similar silhouette and back detail), Sandals: Sam Edelman, Hat: Brixton (same style but color I’m wearing is old)

Monday

Big day going to the dentist and then taking Marin to her 15 month check-up at the doctor. Happy to report I have no cavities and Marin is a growing girl, and will likely be taller than me by age 6, haha. Wanted to feel comfy for the dentist (not my fave sorry) so I wore my Sezane tee and Madewell jeans. Both are really soft, stretchy and comfortable.

Tee: Sezane (I size up), Jeans: Madewell (I sized down), Sandals: Sam Edelman

Wow, love everything you’re wearing, especially the Sezane dress! I have one from Ruby (an NZ designer) that is not entirely dissimilar and you’ve inspired me to wear it more often…in six months time when it’s warm enough that is. ? I follow so many American bloggers whose content I just love (you included) but it’s rough when we’re heading into winter and you’re all gearing up for summer! That said I’m so excited for you all to be facing a more social and hopeful summer. Thank you for your work!

I’ve never heard of that designer I will have to check that out! Thank you Hayley, we are all beyond ready for a little bit of normalcy this summer. Believe it or not my neighbors are in NZ right now (they have been for about a year). I don’t think they want to come back, I don’t blame them!
