Our (RI) Guest Bedroom Decor

This post is in partnership with Pact.

This room might look familiar, because pre-baby, this was our bedroom. It has gone through quite a few changes since then, and I realized I never shared the updated space, so today is the day! Since we built the bedroom/bathroom addition, this room made the most sense to turn into a guest room. It has a 1/4 bath and an exterior door, so it’s the perfect space for guests. Read on for all the details and changes we made to make it a cozy and inviting space for guests.

Guest Bedroom Decor and Details

Bed and Bedding

Personally I think bedding is the most important part of any bedroom, guest room or not. There’s nothing better than slipping into a bed with crisp, soft sheets and cozy blankets. In the guest room I wanted to go with neutrals that showcase the natural light and purple/gray paint color Peignoir by Farrow & Ball. Pact makes 100% organic cotton bedding in pretty neutrals that were perfect for the space.

I love percale sheets because they’re crisp and cool (great for summer) but Pact’s 100% organic cotton make them super soft too. For the guest room I went with the Cool-air Percale Sheet Set in shell, which is a gorgeous light pink. Pact is having a summer solstice sale today through 6/25.

The duvet cover and shams are Pact’s organic cotton sateen in dove grey which is a warm grey that looks calming and serene with the pink sheets and wall color. The charcoal quilt is super soft and very cozy. My recent guests would not stop talking about how cozy the bed was during their stay! Mission accomplished. If you are in the market for cozy, organic cotton bedding do not miss Pact. They are one of my favorite sustainable and ethical brands. Make sure you use code SOLSTICE at checkout for up to 30% off your order.

The bed frame was a very last minute purchase that ended up working out really well. Last summer we decided to rent our house for the winter and I wanted the space to be really nice for our tenants. I was looking for something sturdy and simple and found this white metal bed from Raymour & Flanigan. Delivery was fast and included assembly.

Artwork

The moment we got the white metal bed frame I knew these black and white photos were going to be perfect for the space. Craig has so many incredible photographs (a few available on Society6), and these surfer prints in white frames with white matting give the space a beachy vibe. There are a few other surf and floral prints throughout the room in natural wood frames. I kept it minimal to make the room feel cozy but not overwhelming with too much on the walls.

Lighting, Furniture, Window Treatments

The furnishings in the guest room are minimal but bring warmth and functionality to the space. The dresser is older from Crate & Kids. It’s a nice size and the right color to bring in some natural wood to soften the look of metal bed frame. The rattan side table next to the bed is also from Crate & Kids.

I think I found this terracotta lamp at Marshall’s a few years ago (this one from Target is very similar). It has some nice texture and the warm colors tie in with the bedding and wood dresser. The basket style woven light fixture was another Crate & Kids find. The ceilings aren’t super high. So I was looking for a flush mount light that had some warm texture and this one was perfect!

The daybed is from Sixpenny (you can read my full review here). It makes a great little reading nook with the wooden side table. The slipcover is washable which is a huge bonus with pets (and a rental house).

I had the window treatments custom made because I wanted a linen pull shade that had a blackout liner. I had them made locally at Fabric Connection in Middletown and they handled install as well. I always get comments and questions about the window treatments because they really make the space look so nice.

The wooden floor mirror is from IKEA. We’ve had it for YEARS and it’s been in various places in our house.

The Closet

We decided to take the bifold doors off the closet in this room and put in the Elfa Closet System from Container Store. When I was having Marin’s closet done in her room I decided to do this one at the same time. It really maximized the amount of closet space and added a ton of drawers as well which I use for extra linens. There’s a rod for hanging as well. It’s a great mix of storage.

The 1/4 Bath

I’ve shared the 1/4 bath reveal before so you can see all the details here. I still love the deep blue paint color we chose and gold fixtures. It’s tiny but great for guests to have their own bathroom.
