How to Declutter, Get Rid of Your Stuff and Simplify Your Life

I’m pretty sure most of you know by now that over the last few weeks I have been on a major declutter/organization mission. Towards the end of last year I felt very overwhelmed by stuff. When I say stuff I mean actual things, but also emotional feelings and anxiety about those things. The cycle of constant shopping, gifting from brands, donating and selling items was exhausting and extremely wasteful. Ultimately I set out on this mission because I wanted to declutter, get organized and simplify my life, and it has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Most of you had very similar questions and concerns, so I picked the five most common and answered them below.

I’ve done this for the past two years, it’s one of the best thing I’ve ever done. Like you all this excess overwhelmed me and made me anxious. I also love listening to The Minimalist podcast weekly, it helps keep me in check when old tendencies lurks back.

I’ve been so inspired by your decluttering that I’ve embarked on my own quest to get rid of all the crap I don’t need. My fiance loves it because I have too much stuff, but it makes me feel really good to know that other people, whether I’m selling it on Posh or to a thrift store or donating it locally, will be able to love and wear what I’ve had languishing in my closet for years.

Also, Buffalo Exchange does a Sell By Mail program as well, and the return is much higher than ThredUP! Same process of sending you a bag, but they donate what they don’t want, and you get 25% of the money for items they keep. Super easy, and the donations go to great organizations.
