Great tips thanks for sharing! We also worked with our trainer when adopting our second dog. She had us take the two of them on a long walk together to see how they interacted on neutral ground. This was very helpful if the shelter/rescue group allows. She had us do the same when we brought our second home and enter the house as a “pack”.

Thank you for this post, it is very timely for us! We just rescued a Chihuahua mix three weeks ago… we are still in the adjustment period and we are dealing with some separation anxiety and resource guarding. We are looking into training now, but I wish we had done it before we adopted her. Great tips!
