I never knew I could be so enthusiastic about a doormat, but when you live in a place with a lot of snow followed by mud season, these things bring you joy. Once we finished the addition I immediately started searching for the best doormats because I wanted to protect our brand new Sawyer Mason Floors. We have two massive sliders that lead onto the deck and the backyard, and two dogs that are going in and out of those doors all day long.
After some late night searching and popping into the nearest L.L. Bean store I discovered Waterhog Mats. I ordered them about two months ago and they have been a total game changer. L.L. Bean carries a ton of designs, colors and styles, the hardest part was narrowing it down. I saw on the L.L. Bean website that they use Waterhog doormats at their Flagship store in Freeport, Maine. So they’re tough enough to handle foot traffic from 7.5 million visitors per year! Read on for everything you need to know about Waterhog mats.
Waterhog Doormats
Waterhog mats are made in the USA using recycled polyester. They are naturally stain resistant, mildew resistant and they don’t shed or fade. The mats have a rubber backing making so they’re slip resistant and great at keeping surfaces clean and dry. The raised border helps contain water, and they can hold up to 1 1/2 gallons of water per square yard. They are incredible doormats for keeping dirt, mud and moisture off your floors. You can also use them indoors and outdoors.
Everyspace Recycled Waterhog Mat
For the space in front of the sliders we chose the recycled Waterhog mats in 3×6 ft with the Trees design. I went back and forth on color but ultimately decided to go with natural because they are larger and I wanted them to sort of blend in with the floors. I have been so impressed with them especially when we’re tracking wet snow and dumping all our soggy gear as we come inside. They’ve been amazing at protecting our floors and they’re super easy to vacuum any dust, dirt, sticks, etc. When I ordered the mats it said they were going to take a few weeks but showed up at my door a few days later! I was really impressed.
Everyspace Recycled Waterhog Doormat and Runner
At the front door we have the Waterhog doormat. I love the trees design because it just feels perfect for Vermont. I chose the color bluestone in that room because of our furniture and rug. It’s a super absorbent doormat and traps all the dirt we bring in from outside. We also have the runner in front of our bench and hooks for storage. It drastically reduces the amount of dust and dirt that gets in the house.
They’re really easy to clean, we typically vacuum but they can even be hosed off! Waterhog mats come in tons of great colors, designs, and sizes, and they’re made with eco friendly recycled materials. Compared to other doormats I found the prices really reasonable too. Overall I absolutely recommend them if you’re looking for a sturdy, durable doormat to protect your floors.
