I was beyond excited when Reebok reached out to partner for the launch of their first-ever plant-based running shoe. I’ve been looking for a plant-based and sustainable sneaker for a long time, especially one that I can use for walking or exercising. It’s pretty amazing how they’ve created a comfortable sneaker that not only uses natural and sustainable materials but it’s really comfortable!
The New Plant-Based Sneakers from Reebok
I took them for a test drive all around Woodstock and wore them right out of the box. No blisters or discomfort and I wore them without socks. The sockliner is made using Bloom algae (yes the stuff that is actually dangerous in our oceans but has been repurposed for something useful) which is naturally odor resistant.
The Forever Floatride Grow has a eucalyptus tree upper which is naturally biodegradable. And a midsole made from sustainably grown castor beans. The rubber outsole is sustainably sourced from real rubber trees. It has a slightly stretchy fit that forms to your foot. I went with my normal size but have been wearing them without socks. So might suggest sizing up because they are pretty fitted on me and I have a narrow foot. It’s exciting to see big brands like Reebok making a commitment to reducing petroleum-based plastics. And finding new ways to make performance footwear.
