I wrote this blog post over a year ago so I wanted to update it based on some feedback (organizing the options by price point) and with a few additional options. In terms of budget, I’ve organized these from low to high based on the price of a queen sheet set.

There’s so many sustainable and eco-friendly bedding brands popping up, seriously I had a list of about 35+ going before I narrowed it down. Ultimately the ones that ended up in this post are either brands I’ve personally tested or have extensive positive reviews. Eco-friendly bedding doesn’t have to be crazy expensive. I do think there is something to be said for quality, and often you get what you pay for, but this list is a good mix of quality, sustainability, and price points for every budget. Here are my picks for sustainable and eco-friendly bedding for every budget.

Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Bedding For Every Budget

Target

One of Target’s household brands, Threshold, has some incredible options for organic cotton sheet sets and duvet covers at amazing prices. This sheet set is Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX certified, meaning that they are tested and verified as free from harmful chemicals. They also come in classic white and Queen sets start at $59!

kotn

I was recently offered a sheet set to test out from the sustainable and ethical brand KOTN. I’ve purchased clothing from them before and love everything I have. I really like the sheets and it’s the best price of the bunch at $95 for a Queen set, but it doesn’t come with a top sheet. I know the whole top sheet thing is semi-controversial but I am very much pro top sheet (Craig hates the top sheet so he would be happy if I never used one again). If you don’t mind not having a top sheet this is a great option.

CB2

CB2 is one of my favorite home decor brands but they also happen to have some really great eco-friendly bedding and starting at very reasonable prices. Their organic cotton percale sheets are GOTS-certified which means no pesticides, no chemicals, no preservatives, only 100% organic cotton, inks and dyes. They start at $169 for a Queen set.

Coyuchi

Coyuchi has a vast selection of eco-friendly options. Similar to Eileen Fisher’s Renew program, Coyuchi has what they call a circular initiative that focuses on eco-friendly fabrics, renewing and recycling and a traceable supply chain . We have their cloud brushed organic flannel sheets and I am happy to report they are as soft and cozy as the name sounds. A great option for cold winter climates. The Mariposa Organic Cotton Blanket is also incredibly soft and warm. The organic jersey queen sheet set starts at $178.

West Elm

I can attest to the coziness of West Elm’s belgian flax linen duvet cover and sheets (starting at $200 for queen). They are crisp and cool but soft and cozy. If I HAD to choose, it’s probably still my number one favorite bedding choice. They also have a selection of organic cotton bedding (queen sheet set starts at $130-currently marked down to $104).

Boll & Branch

You’ve probably heard of Boll & Branch by now, particularly if you listen to podcasts (their ads are everywhere). I got a set of their organic cotton sheets and a duvet several years ago. The bedding is definitely great quality and has held up well against lots of washing. They’re certified organic cotton, ethically produced and buttery soft. I added a few sets to my collection including their Signature Botanical sheets which I love (Queen sheet set starts at $238).

The Citizenry

Warning, browsing The Citizenry website may result in wanting EVERYTHING. This is one of my absolute favorite home decor brands. They focus on collaborating with local artisans around the world, each item is handcrafted available in limited quantities, and they are committed to providing fair wages, and happy working environments for their artisan partners. We have the stonewashed linen bed bundle and it’s so soft and luxurious. They stand up to washing incredibly well. Their organic cotton bundle starts at $435 for Queen.

Comforters

Buffy

Don’t take my word for it, just see the 14,000+ reviews of this naturally mold and mildew resistant comforter made from 100% eucalyptus fiber (lyocell) and filled with 100% recycled polyester spun from bpa-free, PET water bottles. It comes in two weights, the Breeze (for hot sleepers) and the Cloud. They also offer a “try before you buy” so you have 7 days to decide if you want to keep it or not. They make a duvet cover too. The Breeze in Queen size starts at $219.

Thanks for sharing! Just curious, how are these listed? What are the budget categories for each retailer? Is it listed from least budget friendly to worst?

    Thanks!

@Tiffany, my thoughts exactly, I would have preferred a listing of price ranges so I could just click on what fit rather than having to investigate each site. The title here is misleading.

  4. Courteny

I had been eyeing Coyuchi sets for half a year and when I finally committed to the USD purchase (the CAD exchange rate is terrible right now), I found out that they don’t ship outside the US. Thanks for rounding up other sustainable brands that do ship to Canada

  5. Katarina – Sukhirugs.com

Love the subtle, gentle and romantic colors! I’m a huge fan of sustainable, eco brands and even more so if their products are so cozy and beautiful like this bedding. These beddings would look incredible with one of eco-friendly Sukhi rugs beside the bed. Sustainable + sustainable = texture and layers heaven 😀
